This July, we were delighted to welcome four new starters to the WestCross Environmental Services team. These individuals are embarking on a new career in the asbestos industry, and their journey began with our comprehensive new operative course.
Training for Success: A Strong Start in the Asbestos Industry
The new operative course is specifically designed for those new to the asbestos industry. It provides essential practical and theoretical knowledge of asbestos removal practices and procedures. Before these new team members are placed on-site for hands-on experience, they undergo rigorous training to ensure they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.
This July, our 3-day introductory course was led by the esteemed Chris Bishop of AT&C LTD, held at our Slough southern office. Chris has been a cornerstone of training in the industry since 2005, with a long-standing relationship with WestCross. In fact, he has trained and mentored many of our directors and supervisors, making his involvement particularly special.
Safety First: RPE Fitting and Certification
As part of the course, Chris also arranged the crucial face fitting of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE), including both half and full face masks. This essential safety step was booked through Mark Chamberlain of WeFitRPE and expertly completed on-site by Lee Hain, a Fit2Fit approved face fit tester. Ensuring our team is properly equipped and trained is paramount to our commitment to safety.
A Warm Welcome and Supportive Environment
During the training sessions, our new starters were not only immersed in learning but also received a warm welcome from our Operations Director, Casey Cross, who treated them to lunch and refreshments—a small token of our appreciation and a hallmark of the supportive environment at WestCross.
