Introduction: Over a recent weekend, WestCross Environmental Services undertook a significant asbestos removal project at South Charnwood College, demonstrating our ability to efficiently manage extensive asbestos abatement tasks during out-of-hours operations.
Challenge: The project involved removing asbestos-containing materials that were part of the college’s infrastructure, requiring work to be done outside of regular school hours to minimise disruption.
Solution: Led by Nathan, our dedicated team engaged in the removal of asbestos-containing cement panels from the external walls and corrugated sheeting from the roof. The entire structure was carefully dismantled down to the slab level, with all asbestos waste securely disposed of.
Execution: Our team volunteered to work over the weekend, showcasing their commitment to meeting client needs and adhering to strict safety standards. Watling Waste provided an asbestos-sealed skip, ensuring safe and compliant disposal of the hazardous materials.
Outcome: The project was completed efficiently, with Rob O’Callaghan, our Compliance Manager, overseeing the pre-work assessments and ensuring that the site operations ran smoothly from start to finish. This case illustrates our capacity to handle asbestos removal projects under tight constraints and varied working conditions.
Acknowledgments: A special thanks to the entire team for their hard work and to Watling Waste for their support. This project is another example of WestCross’s commitment to safety and client satisfaction.
